The two national dailies and a private newspaper reflect on yesterday's (March 8), celebration of International Women's Day

The Daily Graphic notes that the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) goal 5 which seeks to achieve gender equality and empower women and girls by 2030, saying it stands in solidarity with women's right activists to help bring practices that hinder the rights of  the female gender  to an end. The paper encourages men to be advocates for women and affirm the valuable role women play in society.

The Ghanaian Times adds its voice to concerns of women raised at a number of fora to mark International Women's Day and urges policy makers to walk the talk in addressing these concerns. The Times calls on women to purge themselves of the perception that they are their own enemies because it does not augur well for the empowerment agenda.

The Daily Heritage for its part, doffs its hat to all Ghanaian women who have defied all odds to be excellent managers of homes, offices and the country at large. It encourages the younger generation of women in the country to be inspired by Ghanaian female trail blazers such as Former Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, EC Boss Charlotte Osei among others to realise their dreams. The Heritage is of the view that the days where women were disregarded are over.
