New political party in the offing

GBC's Radio Ghana has picked information of the springing up of a new political party. 

The party known as Power Unity Party, PUP, has already made its presence known on the ground though no official announcement or declaration has been made. 

GBC’s Correspondent in the Ashanti region, Nicholas Osei-Wusu, who has been monitoring the development in the past one month reports that the party, whose leadership or membership remains secret, has opened its Regional Office at Ahinsan, a suburb of Kumasi. 

It is painted deep Yellow and Black believed to be the party's official colours with the inscription, POWER UNITY PARTY; ASHANTI REGION OFFICE. 

It appears the National Head office of the PUP is located elsewhere from the Ashanti region.  

In an interview, the Landlord, Anane Dapaah, said in January this year, his son led two men to him to rent one of his rooms outside the house as an office to run a government-sponsored agricultural programme. 

He noted that, the men came later to paint the room in the yellow and black colours with the name of a political party.  

Since then, all efforts to get them to explain their action has proved unsuccessful while his son who led them to secure the office has not been given any explanation.
