Driver Sentenced 17 years For robbery The Juaso circuit court in the Asante Akyem South district has sentenced a 45-year-old driver to 17 years inprison in hard labour for robbery. Tahiru Mahama, pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry and robbery and the court, presided over by Mr. Yusif Osei Asibey, convicted him on his own plea. Police Detective Chief Inspector Birikorang Peasah, told the court that the complainant, Emmanuel Addai, was a salesman at the MTN office at Konongo, while the convict resided at Odumase, near Konongo. He said on March 03 this year, at about 7pm, the convict holding a chisel forcibly entered the office of the complainant and ordered him to surrender all the day’s sales to him. Inspector Peasah said the complainant quickly dropped his bag which contained about GHC 1,700 on a nearby table. When the convict attempted to pick the bag from the table, the complainant rushed out of the room and lock the door leaving the convict inside.
