Marshal state resources to curb spate of armed robbery - Ghana Bar Association  

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA), has expressed concern about the recent spate of armed robbery in the country. It notes the brazen nature of the attacks and utter disregard for human life by the perpetrators which it described as alarming and disturbing. 

The GBA commiserated with families and colleagues of persons who have lost their lives as a result of the robberies and all persons who have been victims. 

It says the safety and security of law abiding citizens is an essential component of the rule of law and this must be protected and guarded so that together with nationals of other countries resident in Ghana they will be able to go about their normal duties without a heightened sense of insecurity. 

The GBA notes that the spate of robbery have the potential of undermining Ghana's democracy and must be nipped in the bud with the necessary force at the command of the State. 

Consequently, the Bar calls on the Minister of the Interior and IGP to immediately institute measures that l ensure the safety and security of all. 

The GBA further calls on the Government to ensure that the Ghana Police Service is properly resourced to enable it to undertake its duties.
