Asutsuare bridge closed for maintenance works

The Ghana Highway Authority, GHA, has closed down the Asutsuare bridge due to its dilapidated state, to enable maintenance work to be carried out. 

The closure of the bridge has slowed down transport service in the township as heavy trucks and other vehicles are not allowed to cross it. 

Only motor cycles are allowed to cross the bridge. 

Illegal commercial motorbike also known as Okada have taken advantage of the situation and are charging exorbitant fares. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, some of the passengers and drivers said the bridge has been closed down for the past two weeks yet there is no sign of Ghana Highway Authority starting maintenance work. 

They noted that, the diversion of the road through Akuse- Marego to Asutsuare Township is a long route and called on the GHA to come on site to start work.
