Certificates don’t guarantee automatic jobs - AGI President

The President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Dr Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, has advised students not to concentrate on acquiring certificates alone, but learn additional skills relevant to the job market. 

He said certificates don’t grant jobs but only gives opportunities.  

Dr Adu-Gyamfi said this, when a team of National Executives of AGI paid a courtesy call on the Eastern Regional Minister in koforidua. 

The courtesy call formed part of the Association’s annual National Council Retreat and orientation in Koforidua. 

He said the AGI wants to collaborate with government in solving the unemployment situation. 

He called for the establishment of training centers across the country where, skills and development programmes are offered the youth. 

While stating the AGI’s intention to champion the course, Dr Adu Gyamfi, said the training centres will absorb the numbers that could not progress to the universities, so that they will be empowered through simple skills training to make them entrepreneurs. 

The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, said he is ready to partner with the AGI to provide avenues for jobs creation.
