NHIS covers all medical conditions except cancers, tumours - NHIA CEO The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Samuel Annor, says some medical conditions such as cancer and tumours requiring surgery on the kidney, brain, heart and other complicated ones are not covered by the scheme. He said apart from these, all others are covered by the scheme. Dr. Annor disclosed this when he paid a courtesy call on the Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, at his office in Koforidua. Conferring with the Regional Minister, the NHIS boss, admitted that, the scheme owes service providers a lot of money and observed that as a result, the health providers take advantage of the situation to extort money from members of the scheme in the name of debt owed service providers. He cautioned service providers against such acts, as the scheme is paying off its debts. The Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour, advised the NHIA to put a stop to the hullabaloo surrounding what the scheme covers, to relieve the people of the region and the nation as a whole of their burden. He pledged his preparedness to provide assistance to the authority to make the scheme work effectively. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
