2018 U17 WC Qualifier: Maidens defeat Djibouti in First Leg

The National U-17 Women’s team the Black Maidens, thrashed Djibouti 9-0 in the first leg of the final set of games for a place in the 2018 U-17 World Cup to be hosted in Uruguay from 13th November- 1st December.

Suzzy Dede Teye broke the deadlock in the 27th minute to pave way for the flood of goals that followed. Black Maidens Captain Abdulai Mukarama scored a hat-trick. 

This takes her goal tally from five to eight and makes her the lead goal scorer so far in the qualifiers. Abigail Tutua, Jacqueline Owusu, Mumuni Fuseina, Milot Abena Pokua and Adama Alhassan scored a goal each to keep the score at nine unanswered goal in favor of the Maidens. 

Coach Evans Adotey’s side have found the back of the net sixteen times in four games and have conceded only one. 

They will face the Djiboutians in cape Coast for the second leg on 18th February. The other four nations fighting for the three slots allocated to the Confederation of African Football are Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Cameroon.
