World Teachers’ Day: CETAG bemoans ‘discrimination of teachers at Colleges of Education’

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana, CETAG, has warned that it will explore means available within the diplomatic, legal and unionised framework to get government to grant members all that is due them. 

In a statement to commemorate this year's World Teachers Day, CETAG bemoans what it sees as discrimination and marginalization of teachers at the Colleges of Education.  

CETAG General Secretary, Prince Obeng-Himan, says despite being upgraded to tertiary status and migrated onto a new pay structure since October last year, their salary arrears, being the difference between the previous salary levels and the new levels from January 2016 to September 2016 have not been paid. 

He adds that CETAG members have also been denied market premium which is paid to all other teachers at the tertiary level. 

The statement says, if things remain the same, the association will advise itself on what line of action to take.
