The Daily Graphic calls on the authorities to take the fight against galamsey more seriously. According to the paper fishing activities in so many  communities in the Western Region have slowed down because illegal mining on the Pra River has  polluted the river. The Graphic however believes that nothing but sustained pressure is the only option to save the situation

The Daily Heritage wishes all Muslims the best of luck as they embark on the holy month of Ramadan.  It entreats them to uphold the values of holiness and peace during the period. It also urges  them to remain steadfast in this period of purification and commit the nation Ghana and its leaders to the Almighty God for prosperity,wisdom and entrenchment of the country's democratic credentials. 

The Ghanaian Times wonders whether the same effort being put into the crusade against galamsey by the media would be replicated  by the authorities in punishing corrupt public officials.  According to the paper, times without number, public officials have been cited in the Auditor-General's report to Parliament, but the farthest it has gone is to have them appear before the Public Accounts Committee to answer questions. The Times therefore says it is time for the country to start punishing people who indulge in corrupt practices, particularly those in public office.
