First and Second Ladies of Ghana Interact With Ashanti Queen Mothers The First Lady of Ghana Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Second Lady Mrs. Samira Bawumia, this afternoon met with Queen mothers in the Ashanti region to thank them for voting massively for the NPP in the 2016 general elections and to also solicit their support towards the development of the country. At a lunch with the queen mothers, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo thanked them for campaigning massively for the party to win power and assured them the government is putting policies and plans in place to ensure more jobs are created to improve the quality of life of Ghanaians. She also appealed to the queen mothers to exercise patience with the Nana Addo led government as it is early days yet. The second lady, Mrs Samira Bawumia, asked the Queen mothers to support the government with prayers in order for them to be able to put in place policies that can better the lives of Ghanaians. The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, was happy with the First lady's quest to raise funds to help complete the maternity unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, saying the project will benefit generations to come. He also added his voice to call on Ghanaians to be patient with the government as policies are being rolled out. He added that all Ghanaians will soon benefit from these policies. The regional president of the Queen mothers association and Mampong-hemaa, Nana Agyakoma Dufie, thanked the first lady for remembering to show appreciation for their support during the 2016 general elections and pledged the support of the queen mothers towards the development of the country.
