Chieftaincy Ministry inaugurates 10-member audit committee 

The Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Kofi Dzamesi has underscored the need for government and non-governmental organisations to carry out periodic internal and external audit to put their organisation in good financial state. 

Mr Dzamesi who was inaugurating a ten-member audit committee of the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs in Accra said issues of auditing are critical for the growth and development of the nation. 

He appealed to the audit committee members to help protect public funds. 

The Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, who was concerned about the mismanagement of public funds, reminded the audit committee members about the hue and cry of the findings of the Auditor General's report which are published and receives attention of the Public Accounts Committee. 

He tasked the members to do their best to capture all government officials spending in the audit report so as to protect the public purse.

For her part, the Chairperson of the Audit Committee, Madam Anastasia Menyawovor said they have accepted the mandate and they will work diligently in accordance with the provision of the Law.

The members of the Audit Committee comprise five officio-members, three ex-officio members and two co-opted members.
