As Ghana's Under 17 national team go for finals of the African Confederation Cup tomorrow, the Ghanaian Times urges the players to go for the gold. The paper says Ghanaians recall with nostalgia when the Starlets won the title twice in 1995 and 1999 and has since failed to annex the trophy again. It says the country is eager to receive the team back home with the trophy and coach Paa Kwesi Fabin and his boys must deliver. The paper is of the view that the current starlets squad appear to possess the qualities of the cup winning teams of 1995 and 1999 and therefore have no excuse not to bring the cup home.

The Daily Graphic supports calls for corrupt officials to be dealt with decisively. It says the fight against the twin evil of bribery and corruption is herculean. This explains why every government promises to tackle them but achieves very little. The paper is however worried that reports of wanton loot of state  resources are made public without government taking steps to retrieve the money and prosecute the offenders. The Graphic commends Captain Smart of Adom FM for organising the public protest to get the Economic and Organised Crime Office to do its job. It hopes that this effort will not be frustrated on the altar of political expediency.

GBC
