Anti-rabies vaccines in short supply globally -Dr. Bashiru Kikimoto

The Head of Public Health at the Veterinary Service Department, Dr. Bashiru Kikimoto, says globally human anti rabies vaccines are not being produced as it used to be and this has created severe shortage in the system.
  
Responding to concerns on the issue of rabies, Dr. Kikimoto agreed that the situation is challenging.
 
He however said anti-rabies vaccines for dogs and cats are available.

Rabies is one of the diseases that can be transferred from animals to humans.

This disease is normally carried by animals such as dogs, cats and monkeys.

But how do owners of these animals ensure that they are safe and do not pose a threat to the public.
 
Radio Ghana spoke to Cecil Nii Obodai-Wentum who breeds dogs on how he goes about this business.
