We Are Ready For Marine Drive Project: Osu And Gbese Stools Declare The Chiefs and Elders of the people of Osu and Gbese Traditional Area, in The Greater Accra Region have reiterated their support for The Marine Drive Investment Project. According to them, they are committed to the project, because of the immense benefits including Payment of royalties, development of the Beach Area, preservation of cultural sites along the Beach and generation of income for unskilled and skilled workers. The other benefits are the establishment of Educational Fund for both communities, as well as creation of jobs, during construction and operation of facilities like Hotels, shopping Malls, Cultural villages, and Amphitheaters among others. Speaking at a news conference in His Palace, The Osu Mantse and The President of The Osu Traditional Council, who also doubles as the President of The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona Vl, stated, without equivocation that, “the people of Osu and Gbese are happy with the arrangement that, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture have put in place and fully in support of the Marine Investment Project to be executed”. Responding to what he called, “negative reportage and comments” about the Project, Nii Kinka Dowuona maintained that, “…there have been series of meetings between the previous minister, current one and The Technical Officers on one hand, and The Chiefs and Elders of both Osu and Gbese stools”. He stressed the fact that, The Sector Minister, has actively engaged The Custodians and allovia owner of the land before, cabinet gave an approval for the implementation of The Marine Drive in August, 2014. The President of The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, however, entreated all to channel all concerns with regards to The Project through both Traditional Councils for redress.
