Public officials to refund 'all' monies misappropriated 

Public officials who in the course of their duties, are found to have misappropriated public funds will from next week receive certificates ordering them to refund any amount deemed fraudulently surcharged. 

The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo revealed this at the opening of the 4th African Internal Auditors International Conference in Accra.

Mr. Domelevo said the issuance of the certificate of surcharge is a testament that the Auditor General's Department is moving away from mere accusation to taking practical steps to protect the public purse. 

He said the amounts to be retrieved will be paid with interest.
