Finance Minister says governments is determined to reverse Ghana's economic ills

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta says one critical challenge of the Ghanaian economy is uncontrolled expenditure which far outstrips revenue generation. 

Worse is government's taste for borrowing to finance the spending. 

Speaking at the National Policy Summit underway in Accra, Mr Ofori Atta said other economic challenges like wage and salary increases, interest payments, high unemployment, inflation and the cedi volatility have not helped matters. 

But in all these, he added, Government is determined to change the narrative to put the economy on the right footing. 

Mr Ofori Atta said it is clear that the country is not in a position to add to its debt stock since it is currently too high. 

On the issue of the 26,000 names taken off government's payroll, Mr Ofori Atta was apologetic of the genuine names that were taken off. 

He said government will rectify all the anomalies.
