Okadjakrom SHS accountants arrested for allegedly stealing Two Accountants of the Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School in the Jasikan District of the Volta Region have been arrested for allegedly stealing and have been put before the Jasikan District Circuit Court. They are Divine Tagbo, 39, and John Mortey, 61. Briefing the media, the prosecutor, ASP Joseph Quainoo said, the accused persons were accountants of the Okadjakrom Senior High Technical School between 2013-2016. The vigilance of the Headmistress of the school, Valeria Akufo led to the discovery of the crime as she noted that the records reflected non-payment of fees by students, who on the other hand, maintained they had duly paid their fees. As a result she called for auditing of the school's account. During the audit it was detected that Divine Tagbo and John Mortey had adopted a clever way of stealing the fees which runs into thousands of Ghana cedis. ASP Quainoo disclosed that the Headmistress of the school upon the discovery of the financial malpractices of the two accused persons reported the case to the police at Jasikan and they were arrested. During interrogation, Divine Tagbo on his own plea admitted the offence and mentioned John Mortey as an accomplice. GBC
