First Lady tasks GA queen mothers to unite for development 

First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has asked queen mothers to stand firm and support government to resolve the many chieftaincy conflicts in the region. 

According to her, the many chieftaincy problems do not speak well of the region and derail its development. 

The first lady said this when thirteen queen mothers from Greater Accra paid a courtesy call on her to congratulate her on her elevation to the position of first Lady of Ghana.

Greater Accra is the home of the first lady as her mother comes from Osu. 

The meeting with the queen mothers was therefore seen as a family affair. 

Also on the queen mothers delegation were priestesses of the various traditional areas in the region. They expressed their profound gratitude to Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo for her role and participation in women's development.

Topical among issues raised was the critical role women, especially queen mothers play in sustainable development. 

Mrs. Akufo-Addo asked the women to continue to support government for development.

The President of the Greater Accra Queen Mothers Association, Manye Naa Dokua said queen mothers play various roles in their communities in promoting socio-economic development, adding that, they will continue to do so.

Addressing the Durbar, the Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Kofi Dzamesi stressed the importance of investing in the welfare of women to achieve sustainable goals. 

He said government remains committed to ensuring that women are supported to achieve their fullest potential.
