Parliament Passes 2017 Appropriation Bill

Ghana's Parliament has passed the Appropriation, 2017. 

The passage of the Bill gives government the authority to appropriate the sum not exceeding Sixty Four-Point-One Billion Ghana Cedis from the Consolidated Fund and other Funds necessary for the running of the state for the 2017 financial year. 

The House passed the Appropriation Bill after considering the report of the Finance Committee. 

The Chairman of the Committee Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah presented the report of the Committee for the consideration of the House.

The Ranking Member on the Finance Committee Cassiel Ato Forson supported the motion for the authorization of government to use the resources of the state.

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta who thanked members of the House for working within time to pass the appropriation Bill responded to some concerns raised by the Minority Caucus.

He said this on the Floor of Parliament when the House passed the Appropriation Bill given government the mandate to use money from the Consolidated Fund and other Funds to meet government expenditure for 2017.
