University of Ghana to establish distance learning centres at major prisons Inmates in the country's prisons will now be given the opportunity to enjoy University education if they qualify. This follows an agreement reached between the Ghana Prisons Council and the University of Ghana to establish distance learning centres at major prisons in the country. The Chairman of Ghana Prisons Council, Rev Stephen Wengam made this known when the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development donated 480 cartons of tuna to the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra. Reverend Wengam said the initiative is part of the implementation of the 10year Strategic Development Plan dubbed "Project Efiase" to address challenges facing the Ghana Prisons Service. GBC
