The Daily Graphic says the spate of violent clashes in the run-up to the elections and inaction on the part of the police by way of arrests and prosecution give cause for concern. The paper reiterates the need to enforce laws against violence in the country. The Graphic believes Ghanaians are law abiding and so the few lawless ones must not be allowed to hold the nation to ransom. It urges the leadership of the political parties to condemn violent acts by their members. The Graphic says it’s worrying that although political party leaders commit to peace, they are yet to openly condemn their members who engage in violent acts.  

The Ghanaian Times supports the move by the police to ban the use of motorbikes near polling stations on December 7. The paper says though the ban is long overdue, it is appropriate and in line with efforts aimed at protecting ballot boxes, voters and the general public on Election Day. The Times says it’s worrying how these riders breach the laws and become a source of headache for motorists and pedestrians. The paper to this end urges the security agencies to strictly enforce the ban so that the election will be incident free.
