Woyome Files Suit To Restrain Amidu From Oral Examination

Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has filed a motion at the Supreme Court praying it to reverse its ruling to allow former Attorney General, Martin Amidu examine him orally. 

Last week, a single judge of the court, Justice Anin Yeboah granted an application filed by Mr. Amidu to orally examine Mr. Woyome in a bid to retrieve the 51 million cedi judgment debt paid to him. 

The cross examination which was set for today, November 24, 2016, Mr. Woyome has also filed for stay of proceedings on his pending examination by Mr. Amidu until the final determination of his motion for a reversal of the decision. 

Hearing of the motion has been fixed for the 6th of next month. 

The court in granting Mr. Amidu's application last week, said it took the decision in view of the colossal amount involved and the fact that the Attorney General has failed to execute the judgment of the court since 2014 for the refund of the money from Mr. Woyome. 

According to the Supreme Court, Mr. Amidu's action towards the execution of the judgment will benefit the entire citizens and not for his direct benefit. 

The court also held that the execution motion before it had been struck out following the AG's decision to discontinue with the case. 

Therefore, Mr. Amidu who initiated the case against Mr. Woyome is empowered by the Constitution to execute the Supreme Court's judgment for a refund.
