High level Peace Council Political Meeting Postponed Chairman of the National Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante says the High Level Political Meeting scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday November 23, 2016 has been postponed. A statement issued in Accra by the Chairman of the Peace Council, Most Rev. Prof Asante said the cancellation is due to a clash of programme schedules of the political parties. The programme, under the auspices of the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG), the National Peace Council and the National House of Chiefs was scheduled to take place at the Great Hall of the University of Ghana, today, Wednesday November 23, 2016. The High Level Meeting is aimed at bringing together flagbearers of the various political parties among other stakeholders to sign a peace pact against electoral violence in the upcoming polls. The maiden High-Level Meeting was held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi in November 2012 prior to the general elections that year. This year’s is under the theme ‘Strengthening Ghana’s democratic Stability, Peace and Unity’ is expected to help chart the way to promote the adoption of a road map and consensus on strategic reforms vital to strengthening Ghana’s democratic stability, peace and unity.
