Senegalese President rejects proposal to reinstate death penalty The President of Senegal Macky Sall has rejected a proposal to reinstate the death penalty after an appeal from civil society organizations and political coalitions for tougher legislation and better security. In the last couple of weeks, the West African nation has seen a series of murder cases. The president was speaking during a visit to the family of a member of his own party who was allegedly killed by her driver over a pay dispute last weekend.
