Over 1,000 Environmental Health Officers and Assistants to be engaged The Local Government Service Secretariat says it has received financial clearance to engage one thousand three hundred and forty seven Environmental Health Officers and Assistants who graduated from the Accra, Ho and Tamale Schools of Hygiene from 2011 to 2015. Out of this number, one thousand two hundred and forty five Environmental Health Officers and Assistants accepted the job offering and the Secretariat accordingly posted them to the ten Regional Co-ordinating Councils for re-posting to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies under their jurisdiction. A statement signed by the PRO of the Local Government Secretariat says the engagement of these Officers is critical because the inadequate numbers of these officers at the MMDAs have posed a major setback to the concerted efforts of government to address the sanitation menace in the country. It says the Local Government Service firmly believes that the presence of these officers will immensely aid the Assemblies to decisively deal with the problem of sanitation. GBC
