Gov’t and church are partners in development- chief of staff

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah says the church serves as a social control which helps to bring the nation together. 

According to him, the church and government are partners in development and appealed to them to continue praying for God to give the right direction to leaders of the nation for peace, unity and progress. 

Mr. Debrah made the call during an evening interaction with the clergy as part of his campaign tour of the region. 

He noted that President Mahama and his appointees believe and are never ashamed of coming to the presence of God or be associated with men and women of God for prayers and direction. 

He urged fellow politicians not to crave for wining power at all cost but allow God’s will to be done in their lives claiming God in His Wisdom has already selected and a crowned a leader for the nation. 

They should therefore allow God to take control of the country. 

The Volta Regional Minister, Helen Adjoa Ntoso admitted that they as politicians are guilty of putting fear and panic into innocent Ghanaian citizens with intimidation and utterance that can inflame passion, tension and violence. 

She therefore called on fellow politicians to guide their actions and utterances during this election. 

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the E.P Church, Rt Rev. Seth Agidi noted that elections are a legitimate exercise for all Ghanaian citizens after every four years, lessons however must be learnt from neighbouring countries to serve as a guide to the entire citizenry. 

He therefore urged all Ghanaians to use every available means to fun home the message of peace. 

The Moderator noted that as a Church with huge followers from all backgrounds, the pulpit is a source of conveying messages of peace and urged all men of God to use it to foster peace and tranquility.
