The Daily Graphic commends government for introducing a policy on closed fishing season. It says this move will help preserve the fast depleting fish stock in the country's seas. The paper notes with concern how fishermen these days complain of decline in catches after long hours on the sea, while the famed August bumper catches recorded every year is no more. Though the Graphic lauds the government's close fishing season policy to address these challenges in the fishing industry, it believes the needs of fishmongers and market women should also be addressed. This is because, while we are safeguarding our fish stock from depleting, it should not be done at the detriment of low fish supply to those who sell fish at the market to make a living.  

The Daily Heritage says we appear to be losing the anti-stigmatisation crusade on HIV/ AIDS. The paper said since Ghana recorded its first HIV/AIDS case, the attitude towards the victims by friends and family has remained highly abominable. It said the Ghana AIDS Commission, GAC, has over the years tried to fight the stigmatisation of HIV/AIDS victims with sustained campaigns, but we still have a long way to go. The paper said the use of AIDS ambassadors to a large extent gave hope to even pregnant women who have contracted the virus. Sadly, however, even the ambassadors are complaining about stigmatisation. The paper is urging the Ghana AIDS commission, GAC, to radically intensify the campaign to turn the tide.
 
The Ghanaian Times says the call-up by EOCO is surprising because this is the first time such invitation is being extended by the office to political parties. According to the paper, it is curious that only two of the political parties aiming to contest the December election have been invited to explain the source of their funding. The Times further says it is not questioning the mandate of EOCO in investigating such matters, but one would have thought that this exercise would have begun not with PPP or APC alone, but with all the parties and their presidential candidates.
