Elections 2016:100 MP hopefuls successfully file nominations in Central region In the Central Region, a total of One hundred parliamentary hopefuls successfully filed their nominations to contest for the 23 parliamentary seats in the upcoming general elections. Radio Ghana’s Correspondent Kingsley Nana Boadu reports that both the ruling National Democratic Congress and the major opposition party the New Patriotic Party, successfully filed their nomination in all the 23 constituencies while seven other independent candidates also going through the process successfully. The CPP filed in 21 constituencies, the Progressive People's Party did in 18 constituencies whiles the NDP filling in 4. The rest are PNC 3 and UPP one. According to the Regional returning Officer of the Electoral Commission, Madam Philomena Adusei, the region did not disqualify anyone, but for those who couldn't meet the criteria. According to her, others were not able to pay for the filling fees. She noted that, the region has sent the documents of all the successful candidates to the commission in Accra for further checks and action. GBC
