Disqualified presidential hopefuls react angrily as EC assures of refund

Some disappointed Presidential hopefuls have reacted angrily to the decision by the Electoral Commission to exclude them from the Presidential race. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, flagbearer of the GCPP, Dr.Henry Lartey said he will head to court if all attempts to get the EC to reverse the decision fails.

Flagbearer of the PNC, Dr.Edward Mahama said the party will study the letter communicating the disqualification and respond appropriately.

The party says it will decide by midday today on the next line of action for the party.

The National Democratic Party, NDP says it is disgusted at the purported disqualification of the party from contesting the 2016 election. 

The flagbearer of the party, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings said the party is not equipped with any other means of determining which voter is on the EC's exclusion list as an illegal multiple voter hence it is wrong for the commission to use that as basis to disqualify them with recourse to section nine of C1 94.

The National Organiser of the IPP, Jerry Owusu said the party will not accept the EC's decision saying the EC wants to exclude some parties.

The APC on its part said they are going to court on the issue. The youth organiser of the party, Mordecai Tumbiano said the party is optimistic that they will come back on the ballot sheet.

On the other hand, CPP's Ivor Kobina Greenstreet who is one of four candidates cleared to contest this year's election has expressed joy of being able to pass through the EC's vigorous process. 

He said the CPP did a number of cross checking before presenting their forms to the EC. 

Mr. Greenstreet however feigned surprise at the number of people disqualified.

Meanwhile the EC says it will refund all the monies to the disqualified parties. 

Deputy Communications Director of the Commission Yussif Ayuba said the EC followed the legal procedures before disqualifying the parties.
