Minority caucus describes NDC Agric performance sluggish

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has described the performance of Agriculture under the NDC’s eight years administration as sluggish and abysmal. 

According to the Caucus the poor annual growth of three-point-five percent in the sector is a signal of the onset of the “Dutch Disease” as the sector is growing at less than half of the average annual economic growth of six-point-seven percent. 

The NPP Caucus stated this at a News Conference at Parliament to expose what they termed the empty promises in the 2016 NDC Manifesto. 

Addressing the Conference the Ranking Member on Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto said the poor performance of the NDC in the sector is an indication that the NDC’s 2016 election promises to farmers and fisher folks are empty and unrealistic. 

He said the volume of food imports have reached alarming proportions while poor farmers and fishers struggle to make a living. He spoke about the growth rate over the period.
 
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto also touched on the levels of food imports.

The Ranking Member on Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs revealed some of NPP agriculture policies as captured in the Party’s 2016 Manifesto which will be launched on Sunday.
