Blind Union urges government to ratify published works treaty

The Ghana Blind Union, is calling on government to as a matter of urgency, speed up the ratification and implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty.  

This will make it possible for the totally blind, partially sighted and reading disabled persons to have access to published works through brails, large prints and audio.  

Speaking at a news conference in Accra, the Executive Director of the Union, Dr. Peter Obeng-Asamoa, said the blind have been denied access to information for far too long and this has limited their efforts to contribute as citizens. 

He said in order to achieve a holistic development as a country, there is the need to ratify the treaty immediately to give equal rights to both the blind and the sighted.
