Nigeria's oil production increases after ceasefire agreement with Niger Delta Militants

Nigeria's Petroleum Minister, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu says oil production has risen to one point nine million barrels a day due to the ongoing ceasefire agreement with militants in the Niger Delta region. 

Mr Kachikwu who was speaking to the media said the ceasefire has allowed repair work to be done. 

Attacks on the pipelines by militants had reduced the volume of oil produced by the country to one point three million barrels per day from two point two million.
