NCCE worried over political vilification in media

The National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE has expressed serious concerns over the way some media organisations especially radio stations offer their platforms to politicians to vilify and denigrate their opponents.

This according to the Commission has the propensity to create violence in the run up to the November general election.

The Greater Accra Regional Director of the NCCE, Mrs Lucille Annan, who said this at a youth conference in Accra, said hosts of political programmes must know the kind of people they invite on their programmes and make sure their comments are civil.

Mrs Annan announced that the NCCE will engage a number of national service personnel and train them as peace ambassadors for the November election.

She said the personnel will be deployed to all districts and constituencies to have regular interaction with the electorate on the need to tolerate each other’s opinion.
