Malaria described as number one cause of illness in Ghana The Deputy Manager of the National Malaria Control Programme, Dr. Keziah Malm, has described malaria as the number one cause of illness in the country. She said 38% of OPD attendance in 2015 was as a result of malaria cases. Speaking at the launch of the malaria symposium by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research of the University of Ghana in Accra, Dr Malm said the only way to ensure the effective control of malaria is a change in the behaviour of people towards keeping the environment clean and free from mosquito breeding conditions.
