Government resolves to empower women in Ghana


Government’s resolve to empower women in the country could be achieved if it adopts Village Savings and Loans System as a policy across the country. 

The Village Savings and Loan System is where people in deprived communities contribute money on weekly bases and loan it to one another in times of need. 

The Chief Executive Officer of Social Initiative for Literacy and Development Program, SILDEP Moses Dramani Luri  said the Village Savings and Loans system imbibes in women the ability to save and also teaches them the ability to provide loans and how to grow the funds all of which contribute to poverty reduction. 

Mr. Dramani Luri is therefore calling on the government to adopt the system to enable it to achieve the goal one of Sustainable Development Goal which talks about reducing poverty.
