Government releases GHC37 million research allowance to lecturers The Ministry of Finance has released 37 million cedis as research allowance to university lecturers. The Kwame Nkrumah University of Technology (KNUST) is to receive the highest amount of six- point- 53 million cedis. Deputy Minister in charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who announced this in Kumasi,said the money is to go through the various stages of verification, including the Bank of Ghana and the Accountant General`s Department, before payment is made. To allay the fears of lecturers, the Deputy Minister presented a copy of the release letter from the Ministry of Finance to the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Professor William Otoo-Ellis, as proof. He made the announcement at the inauguration of a 673,649 cedis TEK Television Station at KNUST. The TV station, the first by any tertiary institution in Ghana. GBC
