Gushegu: Alleged witches demand payment of LEAP allowance

Activities at the Gushegu District Assembly came to a halt on Monday when a group of alleged "witches" from the "witches” camped in the area besieged the office demanding the payment of their LEAP allowance. 

The women lamented that they have not received their LEAP allowance after being registered onto the Program by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The alleged witches are therefore accusing the Assembly for not considering their plight and facilitating the process for the payment of their allowance. 

The District Officer in Charge of Social Welfare, Tia Dokurugu, told Radio Ghana that, there is little his outfit can do as it has forwarded names of all beneficiaries to the headquarters and waiting for the funds to be released for payment. 

Meanwhile, the National Programs Manager LEAP, Dzigbordi Agbekpornu, reacted to the allegations.
