9th March, 2016 The Daily Graphic is worried about the increase in diabetic cases in the country due to the adoption of foreign lifestyles. It points out that, fatty foods from fast food joints and lack of routine physical exercises as major factors contributing to the trend. The Graphic believes extensive education by individuals and Health Institutions on the harmful effects of lifestyles including dieting, physical inactivity, lack of rest, alcohol abuse and smoking will be helpful in reducing diabetic cases. The paper calls on WHO to support the country to deal with not only diabetic cases but also other non-communicable diseases affecting Ghanaians. The Ghanaian Times says the call on men to report acts of violence against them by their spouses to the appropriate authorities is worth noting. The paper believes it is a matter which must be tackled with all seriousness. It says a lot of men are suffering from both physical and verbal assault but are silent because of stigmatisation and mockery. The Times calls for a review of the Domestic Violence Act as it creates the impression that it only protects females. The paper says equal attention must be given to male victims. If this is not done, many men will be dying out of agony in silence. GBC
