E/R: NADMO shuts down six classrooms for poor infrastructure

NADMO has closed down six classrooms of the Presbyterian Primary at Akyem Otumi in the Kwaebibrim District of the Eastern Region poor infrastructure. 

The closure has affected nearly 252 pupils who have to make do with spaces on the school compound for academic work.  

A teacher at the school, Madam Christiana Afari disclosed this to our correspondent, when the Chief of the town, Barima Odame Ampem Darko visited to assess the situation. 

Madam Afari told Radio Ghana that the school which was  built by the Basel Mission in 1896, has never seen any renovation. 

According to her, prominent people like former Chairman of the Electoral Commission, late Justice Kingsley Nyinah, Edward Akuffo Addo, J.B Danquah and Paa Willie among others were products of the school. 

The closure of the six- classroom block, though affecting academic work, is equally important to save the lives of the children and teachers. 

Meanwhile, the Otumihene has indicated that he will take steps to provide better classrooms to promote effective teaching and learning.
