Media practitioners challenge to protect information gathered about people

Media Practitioners have been challenged to protect information gathered about people in order not to compromise the data protection principles.

The principles among other things state that, there must be lawfulness of processing, specification of purpose and data security safeguards.

The Chairperson of the Data Protection Commission, Teki Akuetteh said this at a training programme for media practitioners in Accra.

She described Journalists as data controllers who should ensure that data gathered in the discharge of their duties are safely protected.
