Immediate withdrawal of Textbook- Kofi Bentil

The Vice President of Policy Think Tank, IMANI Ghana, and Lecturer at Ashesi University, Kofi Bentil, is outraged over a science text book teaching children that the human head is used for carrying load. 

Mr. Bentil, is suggesting an immediate withdrawal of the books from the system which was authored by Prof. J.A Quarm. 

Mr. Bentil said the text book is unworthy to be used in the primary schools since it seeks to stereotype and belittle the thinking capabilities of pupils from that early age. 


Reacting to the concerns, the Author of the book Professor J.A. Quarm refuted the negative interpretation being given to the drawing in the book. 

He told Radio Ghana that the brain is what is needed  for thinking but not the head. 

He further explained the rigorous process the book and its pictures went through before it was accepted. 

Professor Quarm however  stated that teachers are guiding the pupils and the picture  does not in anyway belittle the thinking of  any child in pre-school.
