Gabon Parliament Speaker resigns as presidential polls approach Gabon's Speaker of Parliament, Guy Nzouba Ndama has announced his resignation following what he termed as continuous violation of parliamentary immunity of members of parliament. He also cited humiliation of members of parliament on suspicion of working with opposition parties as one of the reasons to justify his resignation. Gabonese political analysts say the resignation is a blow to the government. But Confidants of Ndama have indicated that he has presidential ambitions. Reports say he could contest in the forthcoming presidential elections against the incumbent president. SOURCE: XINHUAN news
