EPA sets up committee to check oil spill The Environmental Protection Agency, EPA has set up a National Oil Spill Contingency Plan Steering Committee to check the incidence of oil spillage into the marine and in-land water ways of the country. Speaking at the inauguration of the committee, the Deputy Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Bernice Heloo, reiterated the need to protect the country's natural resources from environmental degradation. She said intensive exploration activities in the Maritime domain following recent discoveries of oil and gas reserves has increased Maritime traffic tremendously with a lot more vessels calling at the ports each day.
