All Is Set For President Mahama To Address Parliament Today


President John Dramani Mahama will present the State of the Nation address to Parliament today. 

The President is expected to inform the nation on issues such as healthcare, education, power, social services among others.  

He is expected to outline steps being taken by government to address the challenges facing the country. 

Since this is an election year, the President is expected to touch on the financial commitment to the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure free, fair and credible presidential and parliamentary elections on November 7. 

Although President Mahama had addressed the issue of the transfer of the two former Guantanamo Bay detainees to Ghana, he is expected to touch on the issue again  in Parliament. 

Today's State of the Nation  address will be  President Mahama's last  in his first four-year term.

In a related development, the Acting Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Kate Addo says all is set for The house to receive President Mahama to deliver the State of the Nation address today. 

Talking to Agatha Asamoah on Behind the News, Madam Addo said security has been beefed up to protect all who will be in the House to witness proceedings.  

She advised all relevant stakeholders especially the media to attend the programme with the appropriate invitation and be mindful of the basic requirements for entry into Parliament House.
