GES orders withdrawal of exercise books with nude pictures

A Child Rights Advocate, Bright Appiah says it is a misplaced priority for any publisher to place pictures of nude women on government or school exercise books. 

His comments follow the pasting of nude pictures on covers of some exercise books. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Appiah said the lack of knowledge about the consequences of doing that is not an excuse as the law prohibits it. 

He said if this has come to the notice of the GES he expects it to be responsive in getting those exercise books out of the system and those involved held responsible under the law. 

The PRO of the GES, Rev Jonathan Bettey said Heads of schools have been asked to withdraw and retrieve such exercise books immediately from the schools. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Rev Bettey said the GES and the Ministry of Education are not happy with the development.
