Experts advocate punitive measures against people who destroy water bodies

The Executive Secretary of Water Resources Commission, Ben Ampomah says the solution to the perennial water challenge in the country is drilling of more boreholes, digging of dams and harvesting rain water among other initiatives. 

Measures should also be taken to ensure that human activities that negatively affect water bodies and the environment in general are stopped. 

Mr Ampomah made this suggestion on GBC's current affairs program “Talking Point,” which looked at the looming water crisis.

A Senior Research Scientist at the Water Research Institute, Samuel Obiri called for punitive measures against those whose activities pollute the environment. 

He stressed the need to educate community members to report people who engage in the destruction of the environment.
