Employment Minister To Dialogue With Teacher Unions Over Unpaid Allowance

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu, will today meet with the teacher unions to discuss their outstanding arrears.

The meeting, according to the Minister, will enable both parties to reach an agreement before the February ending deadline.

Three teacher labour unions in the country early on this month served notice to withdraw their services by the end of this month if outstanding allowances due them are not paid. 

In a letter addressed to the National Labour Commission, the three unions: GNAT, NAGRAT and Coalition of Concerned Teachers accused the Commission of flouting deadlines agreed for the payment of their allowances.
