GMA in Service Agreement Media circulation deny

The Ghana Medical Association has denied knowledge of a document circulating in the media as their service agreement. 

The document outlines a number of demands alleged to be what the GMA is requesting from government, for which reason members are now on partial strike. 

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the President of the Association Dr. Kwabena Opoku-Adusei said the GMA has not signed or released any document because negotiations between the GMA and government on the proposed service agreement has not been concluded.

Meanwhile, a Labour Expert, Austin Gamey is asking workers who have any grievance to direct all their concerns to the National Labour Commission which has the mandate to address them.

The Labour Expert points out that declaring a strike without exhausting all necessary procedures to address worker problems is completely out of place.

Mr.Gamey told Radio Ghana that the Labour Commission has the capacity to resolve concerns of  the Ghana Medical Association.

In a related development, the Executive Secretary of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Abraham Koomson has described as unfortunate the industrial action commenced by members of the Ghana Medical Association. 

Mr. Koomson told Radio Ghana that the doctors action is illegal, and further accused them of unfair labour practices. 

In his view, the doctors are not being fair to the citizenry whose taxes are used to train them.
