NPP Primaries: Carlos Ahenkorah beats Naa Torshie to win in Tema West 

The Chief Executive Officer of Carloking Shipping, Carlos Ahenkorah has been declared winner of the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Tema West Constituency. 

At the close of voting, Carlos Ahenkorah had 502 ballots, Irene Naa Torshie Addo had 273 votes and Adwoa Amoako had two votes with one spoilt ballot.

At exactly three o’clock voting was ended and counting begun.

Out of the 810 delegates expected to cast their votes, only 778 delegates were at the voting center at the Assembly Hall of the State School for the Deaf in Ashaiman.

The electoral process was supervised by the Tema Regional Office of the Electoral Commission led by Tizor Apentui. 

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) held primaries in six constituencies across the country on Saturday to elect parliamentary candidates for the 2016 election.
 
The six constituencies are the Tema Central, Tema West and Obuom Domeabra, all in the Greater Accra Region; Juabeng in the Ashanti Region, Kintampo North in the Brong Ahafo Region and Gomoa East in the Central Region.

In Juabeng, the incumbent Member of Parliament, Ms Ama Pomaah Boateng Andoh, retained the slot to contest the parliamentary election for the New Patriotic Party.

She polled 245 out of the 361 votes cast to beat two other contestants. Mr Francis K.B. Owusu-Akyaw polled 63 votes while Ms Abena Pokuah Amoah polled 53 votes.

In Tema Central, the incumbent, Kofi Brako, beat his contender, Agyemang Prempeh, with 315 votes.

Mr Mohammed Baba Darison emerged the winner at the Obuom Domeabra Constituency. He polled 230 votes as against his only contender, Mr Benjamin Adjetey Adjei, who polled 71 votes. A total of 302 delegates voted in the primary. There was one spoilt ballot.
